The Cellier de la Vieille Église tasting cellar houses not only tastings but also events. Juliénatons (inhabitants of Juliénas) and visitors like to meet up there every year for the Fête des Vins wine festival. A high point of the festivities is when the Prix Victor Peyret is awarded to the best advocates of Cru Juliénas, journalists, writers or artists, under the benevolent protection of Bacchus.
You can be sure of a warm welcome
and will be able to enjoy the permanent exhibition of
vine and wine themed photos.
Noëlle Châtelet, Patrice Dard, Fabienne Thibeault, Jacques Mailhot, Yves Coppens and Pierre Arditi feature prominently among the winners of Prix Victor Peyret.
In the centre of the village of Juliénas, the old church that has been decommissioned since 1868, under impetus from Victor Peyret in 1954 became the Cellier de la Vieille Église tasting cellar, managed by the Association des Producteurs du Cru Juliénas.
One of a kind, this tasting cellar, its murals and wine and Bacchic themed stained glass have contributed to the village and Cru Juliénas’s fame.
Welcome is the watchword in Juliénas. Its hotels and restaurants, shops and marked foot and hiking paths round off any visit to the Cellier de la Vieille Église tasting cellar.
